Youth Unity

Africa has the world’s youngest people. African youths represent 60% of our populations, hence, the need to strengthen the African youths by building their emotional and cognitive resilience to guide them against gangsterism, violence, drugs, crime and other forms of exploitation, vulnerability and destructive paths.

The establishment of a Youth Consultative Council and the appointment of an AU Youth Envoy in November, 2018, are meant to strengthen links and space for this vital segment of the African population to produce its best for the building of the Continent.

The Chairman of AUC; H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat launched the 1 Million by 2021 Initiative in April 2019 at the Pan-African Youth Forum being mindful of the necessity to accelerate action on youth development in order to harness Africa’s huge youth potential. Moussa Faki also reiterated his commitment for the African youths in his campaign promises for the term of office 2021-2024; titled “My Vision”

Here his words:

“Young Africans are experiencing uncertainty for their future and are frustrated with the weak content of intergenerational alternation policies. African youth long for change, innovation and creation. Our duty is to do everything to meet these legitimate aspirations. In its essence, the action of the Organisation must take into account these essential demands of freedom, modernity, emancipation, change, education, health, employment and physical, moral and intellectual development.”

He pledged to correct this tendency of the decline of a fruitful relationship between the Commission and Youth. The Pan-African Unity Summit Group (PANAUSUG) in collaboration with Minor Football League (MFL), a lower division of National Football League (NFL) shall be establishing 16 teams across Africa to foster unity amongst the youth in the spirit of Pan-Africanism.
