Religion Unity
We have so many faith-based institutions and their followers in Africa but the major ones are the Christians, Muslims, and Traditionalists. The faith-based institution play a critical role in peace, unity, security and development in Africa and globally.
Furthermore, the leaders of these faith-based institutions also play important roles in the administration of any seating government most especially in advisory capacity in the areas of bad governance, negligence, corruption, terrorism, banditry, insurgency, war, gender conflicts and religious intolerance.
To promote sustainable peace through religion, the African Union- Interfaith Dialogue Forum was originally established in Abuja, Nigeria in 2010 to provide information on the importance of interfaith dialogue in resolving critical issues in peace and security in the continent. We also have the Interfaith Dialogue on Violent Extremism and International Partnership on Religion and Sustainable Development.
The Interfaith Dialogue on Violent Extremism is a Citizens and Diaspora Directorate (CIDO) initiative founded in 2017 with the aim of introducing a soft power approach that uses religion and dialogue to prevent violent extremism.
It is a youth-led cross-continental initiative that engages young experts from various backgrounds and religious beliefs, including community workers, academicians, policy makers and creative artists from Africa, Europe, Middle East and now South East Asia. This flagship project has demonstrated the central role that young people play in bringing change and creating innovative ways for building peace and preventing violent extremism.
Pan-African Unity Summit Group (PANAUSUG) shall be delighted to engage the above named organizations towards fostering a robust religion unity in the Africa.
